Frame Running Club
Run, play, and build fitness with the support of a running frame.
What is Frame Running?
Frame Running is a specialised activity that allows children with complex physical diagnoses—who may not be able to run independently—to experience the joy of running. Using a supportive three-wheeled running frame, kids can build fitness, mobility, and confidence while participating in an inclusive and motivating group.
Skills We Focus On
Running Ability
Children develop running skills in a safe and supportive way, using frames to explore movement and build confidence.
Fitness & Strength
Sessions are designed to improve endurance, coordination, and strength while making exercise fun and achievable.
Social Connection
Frame Running creates opportunities for children to connect with peers, make friends, and feel included in a supportive group.
Motivation & Teamwork
We encourage children to set personal goals, celebrate progress, and find motivation through teamwork and shared success.
Why Frame Running Matters
Frame Running provides children the opportunity to move fast, challenge themselves, and share the joy of running with others. For some, this means chasing personal best lap times; for others, it’s about enjoying upright mobility and small-group play in a supportive environment.
Our Approach to Group Outdoor Therapy
Our physiotherapists combine clinical expertise with the fun and inclusivity of Frame Running. Sessions are adapted to each child’s needs and goals, whether that’s fitness, participation, or learning upright mobility.
Therapeutic Benefits of Frame Running
Fitness & Strength
Frame Running helps improve cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength through fun, structured activity.
Posture & Mobility
The running frame promotes upright posture and mobility, supporting children to move with confidence and independence.
Confidence & Self-Esteem
Children gain pride in their progress, celebrate achievements, and build lasting self-belief.
Social Inclusion
Sessions foster teamwork, friendship, and belonging by encouraging children to connect and share experiences.
